UGG boots

U – UGG Boots
UGG is an Australian brand that originally started out producing footwear, most commonly known for their sheepskin boots but due to rising popularity they have since expanded their range to include bags, clothing, outerwear, hats, gloves and other goods.
The brand was founded in 1978 and the boots were brought over to the US by surfers who had visited Australia. Brian Smith (an Australian surfer living in Santa Monica, CA) and Doug Jensen approached UGG to be the US distributors for Country Leather (the Western Australian UGG boot manufacturer). The brand had continued to profit over the years, whilst still being relatively unheard of. It was only until about 2001 that American celebrities started wearing them that they skyrocketed in popularity and the UGG boot trend was born.
My reason for disliking them is straightforward. A woman’s figure/shape is that of curves which when reaching the leg/foot begins to taper into a slim line. This is normally complimented by flat shoes, heels or other various forms of elegant footwear. The UGG boot on the other hand is just ugly and destroys the aforementioned feminine silhouette. Instead of being chic or graceful they are bulky, inelegant, completely impractical for British weather and offer no support whatsoever (However, I do realise that function is normally left by the wayside in women’s footwear).

Exceptions where this faux pas is acceptable
Wearing them inside your house as slippers where no one can see them.
